Getting To The HEART Of The Matter

So Becky started Agility. She loves it and moves at the speed of lightening!

Me... oh my, two left feet trying to remember turns, commands, directions... I'm a train wreck! 

Good thing she is a fast learner, loves a challenge and is all wag!

Becky thankfully forgives my imperfections.

Offer a bribe - I mean reward and she is game to try anything new!

Cavaliers are wired to please and they do with all their heart!

Each night Becky and I return from class, Kodee almost runs me down to sniff Becky all over. I get the impression Kodee does not trust me to see to it no harm comes to Becky. Then she turns, looks at me and snorts, trots off and leaves the room. For the better part of the next 24 hours I get a cold shoulder.

Well someone is acting temperamental, aren't they!

OK you fellow camera buffs, do you receive Photojojo Newsletters? You should - they have amazing tutorials, great camera finds and photography tips.

This particular tutorial was written by none other than my brilliant daughter, who shows you Miss Kodee's beautiful head.

Read "How to Make Your Own DSLR Viewfinder" for around $20. A comparable one with a magnifier in a store runs about $400 - $600!

While at Buskerfest (did you see my post over at Beyond the Dog Dish with my photos?), my daughter used  this gadget for all her photos! She really caught some amazing shots with it!

Don't worry they promise to start off kind and slowly kill us with harder demands! I have no more excuses not to get out there. My area has cooled down so I'm ready to roll along the hiking trails again with dogs, camera and husand in tow. Read Kol's own story on why he needs to personally get fit here.

Random Thing 2

October marks the one year anniversary of acquiring my first DSLR camera and I have embraced every minute of this journey spent learning. It all started with finding Scruffy Dog Photography. The minute I viewed the creative, unique works of Illona Haus I was inspired to try and learn to take better photographs of Kodee and Becky. So I did what any half-crazed, desperate person does - first harassed my husband till a camera graced my hands and second stalked Illona through her Scuffy Dog Blog.

The one thing that really strikes home with me about her photographs are the little, personal details she captures. I really want to have these small details to treasure for my lifetime of Kodee and Becky. Subtle things like a paw, or the tip of their nose in close detail. I want more than a photograph of a dog sitting staring up at me. 

So this week when I read that Blacks Photography had interviewed Scruffy Dog Photography, I just had to share it with you. Watch it - I promise you'll love it.

Random Thing 3

Joint Care Help!

Kodee is on a medication that contributes to bone loss. I do what I can to lessen any joint damage and to hold off the development of arthritis by using glucosamine and chondroidtin. Fish oil has never agreed with Kodee's tummy. 

Recently Dog's Naturally Magazine raved about coconut oil and the great benefits it provides; bone health, digestion, immune support, skin conditioning and more. So far Kodee is tolerating it and I do see some improvement in her coat. But I still need her on a good supplement and I just ran out of my jar of Dr. Maggies Joint Supplement.

So I stopped by the Pet Store today and saw for the first time  Sasha Blend, a Canadian product. 

"It's more than just "glucosamine and chondroidtin. It is a rich source of natural compounds including the full range of GAGs that have joint protective properties".

Ok... not sure what all that means so I want to know if anyone is familar with it? If not which product do you give Top Dog Rank for joint care and why. I appreciate any insight you can give me and Kodee's joints thank you.

Walking Challenge Progress Has Been Made!

Isn't it great the warmer weather is back? For me that means I can up my kilometers for the "Walking Challenge" over at Lessons From and For 4 Legs. A group of pet bloggers have banned together to support and encourage each other to meet our personal walking goals. I have set a goal of walking with Kodee and Becky, 365 Kilometers in 365 Days. Yeah it's not as enthusiastic as some of my other friends who are aiming at 365 Miles in 365 days but let me whine about my short comings for a moment. I have one ankle not in tip top shape that slows me down plus our winter was brutal this year. I am excited to report for the month of May I hobbled along with great strides and to date have dragged myself 117 km!

Who else is having trouble with Blogger? We have been blocked out of commenting on most of our friends blogs for over a week. It's random who I can comment on and who not! FRUSTRATING! I may have to commit myself soon. Since I am known to be somewhat *cough* opinionated, it's killing me having to be silent. Do you think Kodee's vampire imitation will propel blogger into action?

Anyone else involved in this "cluster" of affected bloggers unable to comment. If you are you probably can't comment here to let me know lol. In that case shoot me a twitter message. I did read some people got past this issue by clearing their history and deleting their cookies but it didn't work for us. If I log out, I can comment on ONE blog. Then have to log out again to post on the second. I know I have an abundance of time on my hands - but seriously, not that much! So, in the meantime, know I am reading and loving your stories none-the-less!

I guess it could be worse. I have one friend who can't even make a post. Consider this my test run to see if I still have that capability! Here goes.... pushing "PUBLISH POST" now..

Do you have a dog that suffers from anxiety, trouble focusing or some sort chronic pain? I know when I suffer from stress or chronic pain, often massage helps me cope. It makes sense an animal would benefit from a little one on one too. Think of it as "purposeful patting".

About 2 years ago I stumbled across a woman giving a massage to a large dog at Woofstock, a huge canine/human social and shopping event in downtown Toronto (read our post here). The snoozing dog receiving a massage was oblivious to the fact 100’s of dogs and people were zooming past. I knew massage could benefit conditions like arthritis, tissue damage, and circulation. But knocking a dog out in a crowded noisy environment like this? Just mind boggling!

 Oh yes, it's SHOW TIME! Lucky for me there are two dog shows in the next few weeks! This past weekend I attended the Ontario Breeders Association's "All Breeds Championship Dog Show in Markham and it was loads of fun. I took Becky to get a bit of socialization in for her but really I was there to cheer on Becky's sister, Molly and other Cavaliers! I love dog shows for a variety of reasons.
