National Dress Your Pet Day

So I woke up this morning and saw the big headline in doggie world. January 14, 2011 is National Dress Your Pet Day. Silly. Surely I don't dress up my dogs. No, it's different with me, my dogs NEED coats because Cavaliers are a single coat breed.  [Read More...]

They NEED sweaters after a bath. I can't help it the bargin bin's $5 ones were pink!

What about those ears? Food bits stuck in them, drenched with water - I NEED a snood, it's practical.

When we hike in the Fall they NEED a sweater because burrs are like magnets to a Cavalier's lush tail, feathered feet and ground sweeping ears. Naturally the pink bath sweaters can not be seen in public according to my husband so I searched out manly, woodsy coloured sweaters just for him.

When those light snow days hit I just can't be bothered to fuss with snaps on their winter coats. I NEED a quick get up and Fido Fleece designs a great vecro jacket.

OH and you just can't blame me for NEEDING rain gear! Please, wet dog scent is just gross.

Obviously when a gal is out for the better part of the day, in the hot, humid sun I NEED to use a cooling jacket. Note Princess needs her throne too.

But remember, I still maintain, I DO NOT DRESS MY DOGS  so I am unsure how I can participate in celebrating National Dress Your Pet Day ;)

Protectíng your dogs from the elements is many times misunderstood. Yet they do look lovely. Also in their suits :) Wonderful pictures !

That's too funny! I just love all the gear to keep the pups healthy, dry, warm, etc, etc... Oops, but I forgot, you don't dress your dogs... :) They are adorable!

I like your style! Lovely coats and sweaters and you wear them so well.

From another single-coated dog who hopes one day to be as stylish as you.

Love and licks, Winnie

Having gear to keep you warm, dry, etc. is perfectly acceptable in my book. Plus you look SO adorable!

We just think both of you are so beautiful!! Dressing up for the weather problems is important. We have a problem with Holly's fur getting burrs, leaves, food and snowballs on her. Someone suggested that I shave her and I screamed NO!!! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

Ha! It's too bad you don't dress your dogs.....however protecting from the elements is totally different!

Yes, I can see that you do not dress your dogs at all! I mean, why put your dogs through the stress of trying to figure out what they should wear every day? Who needs that, anyway? I am glad you don't pamper them so much because they could get used to being stylish and that would be quite a shame! Heehee!

What funny pictures! My owners dress me up in a coat when I go out in the snow, and I just love it!

I'm not sure who is celebrating more today. Dogs or their owners? Love the snood BTW

Wow, we were wondering why the ground was all white, til Mum told us it was snow. We still don't really understand what that is, but Mum said not to worry because we live in Perth, in Australia, so we will probably not get to see snow.

Your jackets and stuff look awesome! Except for the snood - Mum tried to get us to wear one, and we all pulled them off!

This is just too cool! I love all the photos. The one with the snood is too funny! Of course, I do not dress my cavaliers either...

I completely agree!!!

On a different note: is Kodee's tail half black and half white?? Cause that is soooo cool! I love tails! I love tails pics. I love watching my cav's tails grow into wonderful feathery plumes. Hmm. . . I better stop lest I sound too insane!LOL

Beyond the Dog Dish said...

LOL Katie! Yes she does have a half/half coloured tail. Kodee likes to hold it up over her back most of the time like a plume. Becky's is straight and fuller, always wagging

Katie, Maizey and Magnus said...

Wow how cool to have a half/half tail! Magnus tail is red at the base so maybe it will grow into a half and half tail too! Did you see his Wordless Wednesday about his tail growing? (http://www.lessonsfrom4legs.com/2010/11/24/wordless-wednesday-a-tails-tale/) Now I need to add to it, cause it's starting to get a little feathery. I hope he has a good tail! Maizey's is so feathery and like Becky's, always wagging!

Beyond the Dog Dish said...

YES we want new Magnus Tail photos added! Hop on that!

Katie, Maizey and Magnus said...

Okay! I'll do my best, just gotta get the little squirt to hold still enough for a picture! I swear teenagerhood is striking hard!LOL

Your photos are beautiful!

Agreed, wholeheartedly. Well said. (And brilliant justification for the snood, btw. Can we see more pics of that for future Wordless Wednesdays?)
